As Occupy Toronto gets close to its one month anniversary, will they be evicted?

TORONTO – As the Occupy Toronto protesters get ready to mark their first month occupying St. James Park, the calls for their removal – as well as support for the protests – is growing.

Last week Mayor Rob Ford told reporters the protest, modelled after the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York, needs to ‘move on.’

Tim Hudak, leader of Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives, has also voiced his opinion on the Occupation. Hudak seemed to agree with removing the protesters today, suggesting that the Province should lend resources to help remove them from St. James Park.

Dissenting from her Conservative counter-part though, leader of the provincial NDP, Andrea Horwath, told reporters, “I don’t think forcibly removing people is the right thing to do.”
