TORONTO – Police have released a shocking video of an armed robbery at a Toronto convenience store where an employee was nearly shot in the head during an altercation with one of the suspects.
Police say the incident occurred on the evening of Dec. 11, 2014 when three men attempted to rob the store located in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Locksley Avenue in the city’s west-end.
It is alleged the suspects ordered customers to the floor while another jumped the counter and rushed the female store clerk. Two of the suspects were armed with shotguns.
In the surveillance video, the clerk is seen fighting with one of the suspects as he jabs her and points a sawed-off shotgun to her head.
A few seconds later, one round goes off next narrowly missing the victim.
Meanwhile, police say another suspect kept customers to the floor and robbed them of their cellphones.
All three suspects fled the scene with money in hand.
Authorities say the store clerk was not injured during the incident.
Police say the three male suspects are described as in their mid-20s, wore dark face coverings and white gloves.
The Toronto police Hold-Up Squad is asking anyone with information regarding this case to come forward.
