LETHBRIDGE – One month after taking over as head coach and general manager of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Peter Anholt has firmly put his stamp on the team.
Anholt completed a flurry of deals just before Saturday’s Western Hockey League trade deadline.
-Hurricanes trade forward Zane Jones to Vancouver for forward prospect Johnny Wesley
-Hurricanes trade a 2017 8th round draft pick to Kamloops for forward Mike Winther
-Hurricanes trade defenceman Bryton Sayers to Victoria for a 2016 5th round draft pick

-Hurricanes trade forward Miles Warkentine to Swift Current for a 2017 7th round draft pick
-Hurricanes trade a 2016 5th round draft pick to Seattle for defenceman Scott Allan
In total Anholt made 11 roster moves since Christmas, sending out 8 players and 2 draft picks in exchange for 5 players and 4 bantam draft picks.
After making his final trade for Scott, Anholt said in a news release, “one of our priorities was to get bigger especially on the back end. We want to continue to build from the back end starting with our goaltending which we’ve done. I think we’re accomplishing what we’ve set out to do and we should be harder to play against.”
The trades represent a massive overhaul for the Hurricanes who are heading towards a sixth straight season out of the playoffs. Veteran forwards Jamal Watson and Tyler Wong are the only Hurricanes who have played for the team for more than two seasons.
