Saskatchewan man dead after school bus rolls on him

HAZLET, Sask. – There has been a tragic accident in southwestern Saskatchewan. A man was killed on Wednesday while he was working on a school bus.

First responders were called to Hazlet, Sask. around 11 a.m. after the unoccupied bus he was working under in a parking lot rolled on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mounties say the 61-year-old man was not the driver of the school bus, which is owned by the Chinook School Division. The bus has been seized and an inspection will be carried out next week by SGI in Swift Current.

The name of the driver, who is from Halzet, has not been released. Police and the coroner’s office continue to investigate.

Halzet is about 240 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon.
