KINGSTON, Ont. – A military search and rescue helicopter from CFB Trenton has been sent to the Kingston area to pick up three stranded boaters.
An official at the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre at the base says the men called at about 11:30 a.m. Monday after their vessel broke down near the Brother Islands in Lake Ontario.
The men, who are believed to have left the Kingston area in the boat earlier Monday, were able to make it to one of the islands and start a fire to keep warm.
The rescue centre official says a Griffon helicopter has been sent to the scene and is expected to pick up the men and take them to safety.
