NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – The Canadian Red Cross says emergency arrangements have been made after a family of eight escaped a house fire near New Glasgow, N.S.
The fire at a two-storey house in the community of Linacy broke out early Wednesday.
The family, which includes six children ranging in age from seven to 14, made it out of the home unhurt.
Red Cross disaster volunteers arranged emergency lodging, clothing purchases, food and other support for the couple and their children.
Chief Dennis Pettipas of the Linacy Volunteer Fire Department says the blaze appears to be accidental, although an exact cause hasn’t been determined.
Fire departments from New Glasgow and two other communities also helped to fight the fire.
