Amundrud earns shutout as Blades beat Raiders 5-0

SASKATOON – It seems a little time away from the rink was just what the Saskatoon Blades needed. The team won back-to-back games against the Prince Albert Raiders this weekend.

On Saturday night, the Blades returned from the holiday break to snap their 11-game losing streak on the road at Art Hauser Centre. The Blades were hoping to build off the victory on Sunday afternoon in a rematch against the Raiders.

Rookie goalie Nik Amundrud got the start for the Blades, up against Nick McBride in the opposing net. Amundrud earned his first Western Hockey League (WHL) shutout while McBride stopped 30 shots. Saskatoon went on to win the game 5-0.

It was also a big day for the Blades top line. Sam McKechnie and Alex Forsberg each had three points while Nikita Soshnin potted two goals.

The Blades next game is Tuesday when the Regina Pats are in town.
