Busts net $84K in cocaine in Saskatchewan, Alberta

Police in Saskatchewan and Alberta have made a significant cocaine bust. The busts happened on Dec. 19 during a traffic stop near Maple Creek, Sask. and at three locations in Medicine Hat, Alta.

The traffic stop was made at a business at the intersection of Highways 1 and 21. A search of a truck turned up 324 grams of cocaine with a street value of $28,000.

Wayne Shrubsall, 42, from Medicine Hat was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Swift Current court room on Jan. 14, 2015.

Members of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team executed warrants at the Medicine Hat locations on the same day. Police seized just over 600 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $54,000, a SKS Soviet semi-automatic rifle and body armour.

Brenden Taylor, 24, was arrested and was scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 23.
