VANCOUVER – A truck driver was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after his vehicle ended up in the creek with the flat deck trailer suspended from the bridge.

Lillooet RCMP say the call came in at 2:33 p.m. on Dec. 22 that a single vehicle collision had occurred on Highway 99, about 35 kilometres south of Lillooet.

When they arrived, along with BC Ambulance and Lillooet Rescue, they found the driver trapped inside the cab, which was in Cayoosh Creek. Rescue crews were able to extricate the man and he was transported to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

Lillooet RCMP and Central Interior Traffic Services from Ashcroft continue to investigate. Roads at the time were in winter condition and speed may have been a factor.

The road is still closed as the bridge was damaged in the collision. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is still on scene conducting their assessment of the structure.
