MONTREAL- Denis Coderre announced today his intention to transform a stretch of the Bonaventure Expressway into an urban boulevard.

Coderre is promising a spectacular entrance to some of Montreal’s most popular neighbourhoods.

The ground level boulevard will link Old Montreal to Griffintown, and will boast wide sidewalks and public green spaces with over 300 trees.

The $142 million project will be named after former Quebec premier Robert Bourassa.

Construction is set to begin in 2015 and according to Coderre, the expressway will remain open during construction.
