EDMONTON – RCMP and Occupational Health and Safety are investigating afer an 18-year-old man was killed at a workplace accident in Strathcona County.
The victim has been identified as Cody Demary of Bon Accord, Alberta. He was employed by a company called International Bulk Services – a subsidiary of Canadian National.
Emergency crews were called at 7:10 on Wednesday evening to a piece of property in northern Strathcona County owned by the Canadian National Railway after reports of an accident.
The teen had reportely been working in a supply yard when he was hit and run over by a tractor trailer unit.
Demary was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck involved in the accident has been seized by OHS, and a stop work order has been issued for the immediate area.
This is the 24th workplace fatality in Alberta in 2011.
In 2010 there were 20 workplace fatalities in the province.
