MONTREAL – Make sure your car is equipped with proper winter tires before leaving the house.
According to Quebec’s Highway Safety Code, all passenger cars must have their winter tires between December 15 and March 15.

Starting this year, only tires with a “mountain snowflake” pictogram will be accepted.

The symbol is recognized by Transport Canada and tire makers, certifying that the tires meet snow traction requirements.
Anyone not complying with the law will face a fine anywhere from $200 to $300.
No demerit points will be deducted.
