Power outage forces Cheer Board to close

A power outage in Winnipeg’s St.James area caused the Christmas Cheer Board to close down early Sunday.

Hydro went out in the area around 1:30 in the afternoon, halting operations at the organization.  The power also affected traffic in the area.

The lights at Ellice and Empress were flashing, cadets were called to direct drivers.

And businesses were also left in the dark, Costco went black from the outages.

Hydro officials say the outage wass extremley small, affecting 49 customers, all of which were commercial properties.

Power was restored by 4 PM Sunday afternoon.
