WATCH: Lions Bay residents told to conserve water

Nearly 1300 residents in the village of Lions Bay are being warned to avoid using their tap water.

The village’s two main water sources are offline after being damaged by landslides.

Crews likely won’t be able to access the sites until early next week, so residents are being told to conserve every drop.

Municipal officials are urging people to avoid washing clothes and showering and to collect rainwater so toilets can remain flushable.

Bottled drinking water is also available at the village hall.

It is unclear how long this situation could go on for. It could be a week or more before the crews can fix the intakes. Crews may not even be able to get access to the reservoirs until Sunday.
