Calgary man sentenced to ten years in prison

CALGARY – A Calgary man convicted of killing his common law wife has been sentenced to ten years in prison, minus time served.

Gregory Houle was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Cherry Ledesma, who was killed in 2011. Her badly beaten body was found hidden in her home, hours after her death. In the year leading up to Ledesma’s death, police say they were called to the home almost forty times.

Houle was originally charged with second-degree murder, but the charged was downgraded prior to his trail.
