SASKATOON – A man has been sentenced for his role in a Saskatchewan high school hazing party last year. Kyle Ekstorm, 19, was found guilty of on one count of assault in a Humboldt courtroom Monday on charges stemming from a Sept. 6, 2013 incident.
Ekstorm, who was 18 at the time, was charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and three counts of assault with a weapon after at least five Grade 9 and 10 students were injured during the hazing. He was given a conditional discharge with a 12-month probation period.

Some of the hazing included pouring chocolate syrup, flour and eggs on the victims as well as paddling them with hockey sticks. The paddling caused some severe bruising and one victim sustained muscle damage to his leg and buttocks.
Ekstorm was one of 11 teens charged after the hazing at the ‘freshie party.’ Six of the teenagers pleaded guilty in July to assault with a weapon. Charges against the four other teens were stayed.
Lanigan is approximately 115 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
