EDMONTON – An Edmonton man is facing a total of 74 charges, two dozen of which in connection with allegedly attempting to import stun guns into Alberta.
Jason Kruse, 31, has been charged with 24 counts of importing a prohibited device, 25 counts of possession of an offensive weapon, and 25 counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was arrested at his southwest Edmonton home on Dec. 2, where officers also found a small marijuana grow-op.
Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said the investigation began when Canada Border Services Agency officers intercepted four packages of stun guns at the International Mail Centre in Vancouver. The packages reportedly came from Singapore and were supposed to end up at an address in Alberta.

The information was passed along to ALERT who started an investigation, which lead to Kruse’s arrest.
The stun guns were designed to look like flashlights but, with a flick of a switch, are capable of delivering a high-voltage electrical shock, ALERT explains.
