Winnipeg in first place for accommodating service dogs

New study released from Courageous Companions ranks Winnipeg as number one for service dog acceptance. Global News

WINNIPEG — Courageous Companions, the Winnipeg-based organization that provides highly trained service dogs across the country released a study that documented obstacles veterans face incorporating their furry friends into everyday life. The study lasted 18 months and collected data from over 300 service dog owners across Canada.

Winnipeg took first place as the best city in Canada to live with a Service Dog. Courageous Companions has been working closely with local media in the organization’s hometown to spread public awareness of service dogs and their roles. They partially attribute that to Winnipeg’s high score.

Coming up on the other end of the race is Calgary, voted worst city in Canada to live with a service dog.

Airlines, taxi companies, restaurants, grocery stores and hotels were the hot spots across the country where issues arose for the veterans with service dogs.
