Police initially said it was a single-vehicle accident, but later confirmed the tractor-trailer lost control and side-swiped a small car.

The rig crashed into a guardrail and came to a rest upside down, partially in a ditch.

Sgt. Boyd Merrill says the man who was killed is from Moncton, N.B., but his name and age have not yet been released.

Merrill says a 20-year-old woman who was a passenger in the tractor-trailer suffered multiple injuries.

No one in the car was hurt and the vehicle sustained only minor damage.
