EDMONTON — The Edmonton Catholic Board of Trustees approved a three-year capital plan Tuesday evening which includes the construction of seven new schools, 19 modernizations and two partnership projects.
Of the 28 projects listed in the plan, the board says the number one priority is construction of an elementary school in Edmonton’s southeast Meadows community.
“Southeast Edmonton continues to be a concern as the utilization in our current schools in the area is 90 per cent or higher while the southwest sector is now at a utilization of 96 per cent,” said Board Chair Debbie Engel in a release.

“We are optimistic that some of the construction priorities will be addressed in funding announcements in early 2015.”
The capital plan is just an outline of what the school board would like to see done. It will be sent to Alberta education for its review and possible future funding.
