Oilers give the axe to goalie coach

EDMONTON – After an embarrassing 7-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night that saw the Edmonton Oilers get booed off the ice by fans the Oilers have fired goaltending coach Freddie Chabot.

Dustin Schwartz will take over the position according to the Oilers official Twitter account.

Chabot was hired in 2009.

Edmonton has the worst goals against average in the Western Conference, sits in last place and has lost six straight games.

Schwartz has spent the past three seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL.
