Known for its oversized flower print silk knits, Leonard has remained largely unchanged since its founding more than 50 years ago. Simoens’ appointment appeared aimed at rejuvenating the brand.
Friday’s announcement came weeks after the house said it was parting ways with Belgian designer Veronique Leroy, after eight years.
Simoens cut his teeth with such revered houses as Gaultier, Dior and Balenciaga. His newly founded signature line has garnered considerable critical acclaim.
