SIU investigating after body found in Lake Ontario

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. – The Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a body was found late Monday in Lake Ontario.

Niagara Region police say officers were called at about 7:20 p.m. in the area of Townline Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

A man was found in the water but could not be resuscitated.

Niagara Region police called the SIU, which has decided to invoke its mandate and investigate the incident.

The man’s name and age have not been released.

Because the SIU is involved, Niagara Region police said they would not be releasing any further Information about the discovery.
