WATCH: Drunk man falls asleep, wakes up underneath train

WATCH: A man in South Carolina survives being run over by a train. Not only was he not hurt, he didn’t even spill his drink.

TORONTO – A South Carolina man is lucky to be alive after falling asleep allegedly drunk on railroad tracks – only to wake up directly beneath a train.

Police were alerted after a train conductor called 911 suspecting a person had been run over.

“If you’re on [a] railroad track you’re trespassing and also taking your life in your own hands,” Spartanburg County coroner Rusty Clevenger told Mike McCormick at WYFF.

But when authorities arrived at the scene they were shocked with what they found.

“Most [of the] time we respond to [an] accident involving a train, there’s severe injuries and most times it’s fatal,” Spartanburg police captain Art Littlejohn told WSPA’s Drew Smith.

According to police, the suspect had passed out drunk with his drink nearby. At some point later, the train passed over him.

“It didn’t even knock his beer over,” an officer can be heard saying in the video.

Police ticketed the man for being drunk in public and trespassing on railroad property.

“It’s still something that’s totally avoidable if they would just stay off the tracks,” added Clevenger.
