Lake Country – Fire fighters were challenged by strong winds fanning flames and spreading sparks as they did battle with a blaze Sunday in Lake Country.
It broke out just before 6:00 p.m. at the Wood Lake Terrace R-V and Campground. A fifth wheel travel trailer and an old, vacant house were destroyed.
A woman living in the R-V lost her two cats in the blaze. She is temporarily in the care of emergency social services.

“There’s no water supply in the area,” says Deputy Chief Brent Penner. “We asked for assistance from the Ellison Fire Department. They have a large tender. It was all about getting water there and protecting the exposures so we didn’t lose anything else.”
The old house that was destroyed held the electrical distribution works for many of the R-V homes in the park, leaving those residents without power and water.
The fire is believed to have started inside the R-V but the cause hasn’t been determined. It’s not considered
