ShawCor to provide pipeline coatings for Australian offshore gas project

TORONTO – A subsidiary of ShawCor Ltd. (TSX:SCL.A) has been contracted to provide pipeline coatings and related products for an Australian gas trunk line, the Toronto=based company announced Wednesday.

The value of the contract from Chevron Australia Pty. Ltd. wasn’t disclosed.

ShawCor’s pipecoating division, Bredero Shaw, will fulfill the contract from its plants in Indonesia and Malaysia. Work will begin in the second quarter of 2012.

The pipeline will connect natural gas fields off the coast of Australia with the Wheatstone liquefied natural gas terminal to be located at Ashburton North, in the state of Western Australia.

The contract involves coating about 225 kilometres of pipe.
