There may be an end in sight for residents of a condemned condo building in Fort McMurray as they begin to vote on the fate of the Penhorwood building.

In March, their condos were deemed unsafe to live in and residents were forced out of the building. They were allowed to return for short periods to gather their belongings. The vote will feature four options for selling the land and repairing the building.

“Well I mean what we’ve heard from our owners is they’re all in very different places,” says Penhorwood Condo Association president Christine Burton. “Some are in pretty serious financial difficulty and some of them can hang in there for a little bit longer.”

The voting will be done online and will be open for one week. Any resolution will have to receive 75-percent of the vote, in order to be passed.
