TORONTO — Kelly Clarkson showed some love for Taylor Swift on Saturday by putting her twist on Swift’s ubiquitous hit “Shake It Off.”

Clarkson sang a slower, soulful version of the song at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, New York, during a free concert to celebrate the opening of a Microsoft store at the Walden Galleria.

After performing Swift’s smash single, Clarkson gave props to the singer.

“Seriously, everybody gives Taylor such a hard time but I can tell you, she can write a hook,” Clarkson told the crowd. “I’m just saying. I love that song.”

Swift evidently approved of Clarkson’s rendition.

“Watching Kelly Clarkson SLAY ‘Shake It Off’ is an excellent way to celebrate 26 HOURS TIL 1989!!!!!!,” she tweeted, referring to the release of her new album.
