VANCOUVER – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now taken over a murder case in Surrey.
A man was found dead in a Whalley-area home around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. He has been identified as Larry Mizen, a man who was reportedly very well-known in Surrey’s drug trade. There are reports he worked as an enforcer and was feared by many on the streets.
Mizen was a martial arts expert who reportedly threw punches without mercy. He was well known to police with a long history of convictions for assault, weapons offences, extortion and unlawful confinement.
Mizen was found dead when firefighters were responding to a call of medical distress at his home near 136 Street and 110 Avenue on Oct. 19.
A number of people are now being investigated but no arrests have been made. It’s still unclear what may have happened in the incident.
