WATCH: Condolences pour in for two Surrey teens killed in car crash

Two Surrey teens killed in a car accident in Delta late Monday afternoon are being remembered fondly by friends and loved ones today.

Chantal MacLean and Cody Kehler are Grade 12 students and well-known rugby players at Clayton Heights Secondary.

The two were killed in an accident on Highway 10, in which police believe their vehicle lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic.

Friends and family say the two teens will be deeply missed.

Grief counselors were brought in today to help students and staff at the school deal with the double tragedy.

“It is a tragic circumstance and difficult to deal with when one student at the school dies in this way,” says Doug Strachan with Surrey School District. “It is obviously very difficult for the school community to absorb this right now.”

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Investigators were on scene this morning taking pictures and gathering evidence.

Global News was told four other vehicles were also involved in the crash. Seven other people sustained injuries that are non-life-threatening.

It’s been a particularly deadly weekend on B.C.’s roads and highways, with the death toll three times what was expected.
