HALIFAX – A 37-year-old murder suspect faces a charge of assaulting another murder suspect in an incident last month at a Halifax-area jail.
Steven Elliot Laffin, who is accused of second-degree murder in the disappearance of a Halifax prostitute last summer, faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

The alleged victim of the incident at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility is Clarence Michael McLeod.
The 56-year-old McLeod is awaiting trial for second-degree murder in the death of a woman in 2009.
Laffin has been in custody since August of last year, when he was arrested on charges of attacking a prostitute in Halifax.
McLeod has been behind bars since April, 2010.
