The new “Don’t Be That Guy” poster campaign has been launched in Saskatoon, which aims to raise awareness to men about the boundaries between consensual sexual contact and criminal sexual assault.

“For years we have been trying to educate women with our messaging but this campaign is an opportunity to send a strong message to men- before an assault is committed,” says heather Pocock with the Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Centre.

Police say is it estimated that the use of drugs or alcohol plays a role in 60 per cent of sexual assault reports.

The campaign was launched in partnership of the Saskatoon Police Service, the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA), the Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Centre, and Saskatoon Crime Stoppers.

Posters will be displayed in bars, lounges, liquor stores and on the University of Saskatchewan campus beginning this fall.
