Giant 7s aim to support Bay of Fundy in global wonders competition

WOLFVILLE, N.S. – University students in several provinces are getting behind an effort to promote the Bay of Fundy in the New7Wonders of Nature contest.

Students will be creating giant 7s in a move to generate more publicity over the bay, which has also been supported by provincial governments in the Maritimes.

Spokeswoman Heather Spriet says that at Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S., students are planning to slide in a large pool of mud to create a 7, which will be unveiled Thursday.

Other universities taking part include Mount Allison in Sackville, N.B., McGill in Montreal, the University of Calgary and the University of British Columbia.

The global competition is vote-based and people can go online to vote.

The Bay of Fundy is Canada’s only finalist in the contest, with voting open until Nov. 11.
