“The investment will allow us to be more competitive,” said Riel Bellegarde, SIIT president and CEO.

“We can now secure the platforms that will bring our students into this age of rapidly advancing technology.”

SIIT will convert AME training manuals to digital format and online videos so students can review materials via the internet.

The post-secondary institution is also expanding its training facility to help meet industry demand.

The federal government says increased exploration and expansion in the province’s agriculture, oil, gas and mineral sectors has resulted in greater traffic in many of Saskatchewan’s airports.

So far, 23 AME students have graduated from the SALC since its opening in 2010.
