WATCH: Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment is clarifying an announcement it made last week about a popular gathering spot for Leafs and Raptors fans.
TORONTO – Don’t worry Toronto. Maple Leaf Square will not be called Ford Square after all.
A report by the Toronto Star says Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. is denying it has ever considered renaming the area outside the Air Canada Centre after Ford Canada.
However, a sponsorship agreement with the motor company means a section of the space will be called The Ford Fan Zone at Maple Leaf Square instead.

An official announcement on the decision is expected later today.
The square is a key celebration location for Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors fans.
Ford Canada is currently a sponsor of the Leafs, Raptors, and the Air Canada Centre which both teams play in.
