KELOWNA — As the saying goes you are what you eat and in the Okanagan there is no shortage of fresh, local, organic options to choose from. For the past nine years they’ve all been showcased at the annual Organic Okanagan Festival. It was underway Saturday afternoon.
“I believe that we’re at the tipping point of this awareness of biodiversity and proper organic agriculture through the nation,” says event organizer Wendy Wright. “As it stands currently the organic industry is worth $3.7 billion dollars and it’s only going to grow and be more successful from here.”
There were workshops on how to live green, information on organic foods and how those foods make it to our tables.
Nearly 30 exhibitors, most from the Okanagan, set up shop to showcase their goods.
