City of Burnaby successfully halts pipeline surveying work

The National Energy Board has ruled that Kinder Morgan cannot breach Burnaby city bylaws in order to conduct surveys for their Trans Mountain pipeline route.

Kinder Morgan asked the NEB to intervene after city crews blocked the company from doing surveying work on Burnaby Mountain. As part of the work, Kinder Morgan cut down several trees.

The decision means that Kinder Morgan cannot continue to do surveying work on Burnaby Mountain without the permission of the City of Burnaby, something which Mayor Derek Corrigan is vehemently opposed to.
