TORONTO – Toronto’s Maple Leaf Square will be renamed after Ford.
So, you’re thinking of infamous Mayor Rob Ford right? Wrong.
Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd. wants the space outside the Air Canada Centre in downtown Toronto to be named after Ford Canada.

The automobile giant has reportedly struck a five-year sponsorship deal with details of the name change to be officially announced next week.
The square is a key celebration location for Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors fans.
The gathering spot is already in the midst of a transformation of sorts.
The Leafs recently unveiled plans to pay tribute to the club’s history by immortalizing up to 12 players in stone statues.
It will grow as the team builds up to its centennial season in 2016-’17.
Ford Canada is currently a sponsor of the Leafs, Raptors, and the Air Canada Centre which both teams play in.
