PENTICTON, BC — It’s becoming the newest way to catch a thief.
A Penticton convenience store owner is posting videos on Facebook of people he believes are stealing from him.
Last week, a man dressed in dark clothes and a cap is seen allegedly putting packets of meat and cheese into his bag.
Leigh Follestad, owner, says he’s fed up with shoplifters, so he’s publicly shaming them on social media.
“It is frustrating. It is driving me nuts,” says Follestad.
He’s offering a $500 reward to anyone who helps to get the suspect arrested.
Follestad also wants to involve the community even more. He will be granting up to ten people passwords so they can access his live surveillance system.
He says people can watch the security cameras from home, which means, at any given time there could be several pairs of eyes watching out for shoplifters.
