SALMON ARM – The long running Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival is facing some tough financial times.
Lower than expected ticket sales, rising costs and a depleted financial reserve have left the society that runs the festival without funds needed book acts for next year.
“In the past we’ve had an operating budget at the end of the festival in order to start booking artists for the next year,” says Kelly Moores with the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society. “This year, through various reasons, we have a shortage in that area.”
The society is now looking at all possible options to raise the needed cash and cut costs.
Festival organizers believe one solution could be more music. To raise the needed funds, they’re looking at holding a benefit concert.
