An official says an Australian hospital is treating a patient as a suspected Ebola case, although he is unlikely to have the deadly disease.

Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman Amanda Noonan says the 25-year-old man has been isolated and is being tested after arriving at the Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland state on Thursday.

Noonan says it’s “extremely unlikely, but we’re treating the patient at this stage as suspected Ebola case.”

News Corp. reports that the man fell seriously ill upon returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

More than 2,200 deaths throughout West Africa have been attributed to Ebola amid the worst outbreak of the disease in history.
