ABBOTSFORD – Abbotsford police have a warning after a number of people were defrauded when they purchased fake concert tickets.

Police say they have received numerous reports of the fraud in the last three days, but the transactions have been taking place since March and as recently as last weekend.

The tickets were purchased in person after being tracked down on a social networking site, the name of which is not being disclosed. When the victims attended the event, they were told the tickets they bought were bogus.

The fraudsters even went as far as providing a credit card receipt showing the “legitimacy” of these electronic tickets.

Police say some people were duped out of as much as $500 per transaction, and it is believed there may be more victims in other parts of the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.
