TORONTO – Transits users traveling their way through Union Station may notice a slightly less congested commute this morning with the opening of a new subway platform.
Toronto Transit Commission crews have been working all weekend long to put the finishing touches on a second platform which opened to the public at 6 a.m.
Commuters are being advised to keep their eyes open for new signage identifying which platform serves the University Line Northbound to Downsview and which serves the Yonge Line Northbound to Finch.
“It’s clean, it’s modern, it’s bright. We’re now focusing on finishing the job off, getting the rest of the concourse complete and renovating the existing platform. This is a milestone for the TTC,” TTC CEO Andy Byford said.
The TTC has put 30 customer service reps on duty to help orient riders to the change.
