The river valley will be filled With the beautiful sounds of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra this weekend.

The 17th annual Symphony Under the Sky runs all weekend in Hawrelak Park. It’s considered the event that wraps up the summer festival season.

Friday’s performance include classics from Mozart, Handel and Brahms. Saturday’s shows feature Broadway and Hollywood favorites. Sunday offers a family matinee, and Canadian legend Ian Tyson will joins the ESO for the evening performance, and Monday wraps with a bang – Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture.

“It’s a wonderful way to salute the military and all the wonderful work they do, but also a chance to do a great piece of work in the manner in which is was first written for, live cannon shots.” says ESO conductor Bob Bernhardt.
