A wildfire smoke advisory has been issued for several regions of B.C. including Prince George and Fort St. John.
The warning from the Ministry of Environment comes as smoke from forest fires blankets the area.
The following regions are affected:
- Prince George
- Williams Lake
- Quesnel
- Fort St. John
- Burns Lake
Officials advise those in affected regions to avoid strenuous outdoor activities. Exposure is especially a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes, lung disease or heart disease.
Real-time air quality readings are available at www.bcairquality.ca
The provincial government also announced Wednesday that Australian firefighters are on their way to B.C. to help fight the wildfires. 80 firefighters will arrive in B.C. this weekend.
