Tips to enjoy the Queen City Ex without breaking the bank

REGINA – From the rides to the deep-fried corn dogs, the Queen City Ex offers a number of ways to get your heart racing, but the price tag can add up.

General admission and a pass for unlimited rides cost $12 and $47, respectively, at the gate, and on-site parking adds another $6.

Visitors to the grounds on Saturday, offered a few ways of lessening the financial blow.

“Eat out before you get here,” suggested Tristan Chabot.

A number of visitors opted for public transit instead of finding and paying for parking.

“Tell the kids to work, get jobs and save money [to buy their own passes],” said Christina Genaille with a laugh.

Carrie Hackel, Evraz Place public relations and promotions coordinator, recommended maximizing the fun by taking in some free events, such as free concerts and other live entertainment.

Taking the time to shop around can also pay off.

“Like, the root beer [vendor]. You buy a big tumbler for about six bucks, I think, and then you end up filling it up for two bucks for the rest of the week,” she said.

On Sunday, admission will be free between 9:30-11 a.m. for the Mosaic Flip For Hunger Family Day.
