Pedestrian hit by car suffers life-threatening injuries

CALGARY – One man was rushed to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in the city’s northeast on Thursday.

It happened in the intersection of 16th Avenue N.E. and 4th Street N.E. around 11:30 p.m.

Police say a grey 2006 Infiniti FX35 was traveling eastbound on 16th Avenue approaching 4th Street, when it struck a 45 year-old man.

The victim was crossing 16th Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk. He suffered life-threatening injuries, and remains in hospital in critical condition.

Police don’t believe speed or alcohol were factors for the driver, however, officers are investigating if the victim may have been intoxicated at the time.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information is asked to contact the police traffic section at 403-567-4000.
