Man faces over 100 charges in connection with alleged graffiti spree

A 19-year-old man is facing 176 mischief charges in relation to graffiti offences throughout the city of Edmonton.

Jeffrey Randall Knull is also being investigated by Strathcona RCMP charges, and additional charges could be laid.

“Typically, our investigations focus on active graffiti taggers, so it is crucial that we record their tags and share the information between organizations,” said Acting Sergeant Gerald Jorgenson, EPS Graffiti Project Coordinator. “More and more citizens are stepping forward to record and report graffiti by calling 311, and their support has helped us proceed with investigations and hold more individuals accountable for their actions.”

Police and the city are encouraging Edmontonians to help clean up the city by reporting graffiti by calling 311 or calling 911 if they see vandalism in progress.

“We continue to hear from upset property owners impacted by graffiti vandalism that more must be done to catch and prosecute the taggers,” said Sharon Chapman, Graffiti Project Manager, Capital City Clean Up. “We are pleased that important arrests continue through the collaboration of the Edmonton Police Service, the City of Edmonton Community Standards Branch, the Capital City Clean Up Graffiti Management Program, and of course concerned citizens. Together, we are positively impacting graffiti vandalism in our city.”
