EDMONTON – A 24-year-old Edmonton man faces drug possession charges after police seized eight kilograms of cocaine during a weekend raid of a north Edmonton home.
Police executed a warrant at 166th Avenue and 88th Street on Sunday, arresting one man and seizing eight kilograms of cocaine, five pounds of marijuana and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Police estimate the combined value of the drugs at more than $380,000.
According to the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, an umbrella of police forces, the bust is linked to a well-known organized crime group connected to other crime groups in western Canada.
Hamid Reza Akbarpour, 24, has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The investigation continues and additional arrests are expected.
