VANCOUVER – A son has been charged with the murder of his mother after her body was found in her Sooke home on July 20.

Michael McCormick, 36, has now been charged with second degree murder in the death of his 64-year-old mother, Pamela Dyer.

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), with support from the Sooke RCMP and RCMP Forensic Identification Section, conducted an exhaustive investigation into Pamela’s death and based on those findings, arrested McCormick Wednesday morning.

VIIMCU Investigators have worked tirelessly over the last two months to answer the many questions surrounding Pamela’s death, said S/Sgt. Jeff McArthur, Commander of the Sooke RCMP. Their efforts, and those of our local officers, have resulted in the identification and arrest of the man we believe is responsible for Pamela’s murder.

McCormick remains in custody, pending his next scheduled court appearance.
